Clifford my man...
You are absolutely correct. The best fix for vapor lock is:
1. A fuel pump located as far away as possible from a heat source.

2. A high quality fuel filter that will act as a fuel accumulator vessel and
prevent vaporization.

Subject: [BlindHandyMan] vapor locked engines

Dear List members:
Back in the twentieth century, when I took physics, the reason given for
vapor locking was that the fuel pump would only pump a liquid, and if the
engine got too hot, and at that time the fuel pump was attached to the
engine, the liquid fuel would become a vapor when super heated and the pump
would stop working. The answer to immediate relief was to cool the fuel
pump with water or let it rest.
I am not sure, but I would think that a filter would let a vapor pass
as easily as a liquid?
Placing an electric fuel pump in the fuel tank, has eliminated vapor
lock, at least the old fashioned type.

                Yours Truly,

                Clifford Wilson
