Have you ever seen what I call a fruit tree ladder that comes in two
pieces ? the laddere I cannot find but need at the moment is maybe 12
feet tall when totally assembled. the top of the ladder is very narrow
so it can fit between limbs of a apple or peach tree. we had this ladder
passed down in the family from many years ago. the top half of the
ladder has these deep groves whereas the top slides onto the bottom to
make a very sturdy ladder for climbing. what I have used the bottom
half of this ladder over the years is for washing walls or celings and
painting in stair ways. that shorter bottom half which is just over six
feet would set on a stair as one climbs a stairway and the ladder would
reach up along the wall so you could run a 12 by 2 plank from the
stairs to the ladder making a pretty safe work place which is easily
changed for different levels of working. Have you ever seen such a two
piece ladder maybe manufactured in the 20's or 30's ? Lee
