salt will lower thr freezing temp of water. So if it gets wet, it will do its job. I like the ice melt product as it freezes at a even lower temp and does not harm grass or animals. It's blue. Thanks to you guys, i was able to deter my lawn growing over a bric line that partitions my lwan from planting area.
