I didn't read the manual with mine, I'm too impatient. But I'm sure I can tell
you how to make it work.

As you look at it, you will find a little clear plastic window on the top edge
and just to the left of the buttons. The large round button standing alone on
the left of all the other buttons is the on off one. Push it and wait about a
second and you'll hear a short beep. That is the signal that it is on, and it
beeps like that in any mode.

Next there should be 2 rectangular buttons on top of each other. The lower one
turns on the sound. Push it in and that turns on the audible part you bought
it for. At that point you can pick it up and start tilting it around and make
the tones come on for lets say close to level. It's a trick getting it to read
level in your hands and being able to keep it that way for any length of time.

The other buttons won't be of any value to you unless Carol is going to be
reading it. They select things like inches, angles and so on.

An interesting button is the large round one on the other side of the buttons
to the right. That is the lock button. You push that one when you are taking
a reading of an incline or an angle and aren't able to read through the window.
Pushing it locks the reading in place and then you can turn it upside down if
you want and the reading will stay locked. I know I've pushed it by mistake
before but I don't remember the results right now. I can't remember if it
keeps it from changing a reading and locking out the tones. If you find they
don't work after pushing the other round button and the lower rectangular one,
try pushing the lock button and see if anything changes. It's a simple on off
switch too.

Have fun and let me know if it works.

Subject: [BlindHandyMan] The Stabila has landed

  Hi Guys,

I received my 24" Stabila audible level to-day and it is still in the shrink
rap laying on the corner of my desk.
Do any of you know where I might find the manual in an electronic format? I
did a search on their web site to no avail.
