Hi, I agree with everything Steve has said here all though I have used disel in the past. I really would prefer to remove the whole thing where ever possible, but that's not all ways possible and usually damned hard work as even a small tree 10" inches in diameter at the base takes some serious removal without a dumper or tomcat.
