Have a Delta DP200 bench-top model that I like pretty well.  It has the
rack and pinion table-moving mechanism Dale mentions, though it does tend to
drift around when you raise and lower the table. N I hadn't thought about a
foot switch, but it makes a lot of sense, so I'll probably try and find one
shortly.

Dan, I bought a Delta dp3900 from Lowes, a bench top model. I like 
it well. It weighs about 75 pounds. So, if you get a floor model, 
you may need help putting it together because they can weigh a 
lot. Just picking up the head to put it on the column would be a 2 person
job.
