I use Time Warner as my primary service and Skype for calls outside the
United States. When the power is out I have to depend on my cell phone.
Time Warner sounds like standard phone service. Skype's quality is not as
good but for two cents a minute most anywhere in the world is worth it. I use
my Skype with the Internet Wizard which allows me to use Skype with my regular
phone.
When I pick up the handset I get a dial tone from Time Warner. Two taps
of the pound key switches me over to a dial tone from Skype.
