Brice, we have something similar to the cottinwood problem the reason 
your skimmer does not catch it. the mess is that  once mixed with 
water it easily goes thru to the stocking. Now unless you  want to 
spend more time  cleaning the filter I would suggest  staying with the 
nylon sock  you are now using.  I keep an extra sock  in a bag hooked to 
the skimmer. so while one is working take the  dirty one and  use a 
pressure nozzle  or even your hose end sprayer but spray backwards thru 
that silk stocking. stick it  in the sun to dry and you willget a few 
uses out of it, until the  crap from the trees is gone. however  
depending on how many folks who are loosing hair in your pool it is a 
good idea to use the sock thru the pool season. again , saves that 
textra taking down the whole filter to clean it , thus   not wasting 
extra earth. Lee
