Lenny, I tested our basement a couple years back. Here in Missouri, you can
obtain the test kit from a state agency, the name of which I have forgotten,
and then send it in for analysis after you've let it set out for the
prescribed period. Ours was within the acceptable range by the way.

There is a simple test kit that you can get to check your home. A few years

ago we had our house tested and it is way below normal. What I found
interesting was that a friend had a high level and had the system installed
to remove it. It is a series of perforated pipes placed under the basement
floor and then taken outside. On the end of the pipe is a small fan pulling
air out of the pipe. It not only totally cured his radon problem but also
totally eliminated a moisture problem.
I think that I purchased my kit at Lowes.
