Hi folks; I happen to be blessed with in laws that are most likely to say "I'll do it for you." When I struggle, (which I do not mind unless it seems like my worthiness is gauged upon the sighted time scale) they say "let me do it, it will go so much faster." Then if I am not grateful at that point it breaks down into "then why are you asking me? I won't help next time."
So when find a great storm door for $500 they can get it for $195. When i find a faucet on her for $21 they would say "but t's plastic crap." Years and years of it have at times made me bitter; but now I can just anticipate it. So, when I couldn't find GI, I was told it was $49 at Low's. When Lenny found it at Home Depot I was told it was junk. I did ask bro in law to look at it and pick it up if it would work as I didn't have much money and still have to be very careful. The kid at Home Depot couldn't find it, but bro in law left the paper at home and didn't have all the info Lenny gave me. Then the Ebay happy sis in law, (man, let's not go there, yum!) found it on Ebay. She set up a $20 bidding on it and that was half of the time i thought bro in law was avoiding the facing of facts that he could have succeeded if he took the Home Depot numbers with him and could get the thing if he did. It arrived, it's chrome. It's a water fall type. It had all the hardware, mounting plates, rubber gaskets, washers, and heavy nut. It was ready to take the 4 ft of water line tubing that came sealed with it. So I got my kid and wife in line to do the "I yell to you, you yell to the one at the shut off". First I put new springs and seats in my Delta which was dripping. Then I moved over to the filtered water faucet at that kitchen sink. Getting it lose was a bit of a challenge as 18 years can make things stay. But that came down after the tubing was free. I assured the new faucet function by hooking to the old tubing and dispensing into a bucket, in case I ran into trouble. The old faucet came out, and the new one went in. I took a chance that the new gromets bro in law provided would hold the new tubing to the water filter. So I took the old after-tubing off entirely. Tricky as it took much to secure that bit of tube. Then the tube went up to the underside of the new faucet, and voila! Both jobs were done in 2 hours. It would have burned me if it were perceived that I couldn't do it upon the insertion of some unexpected event. I worded that carefully. So big thanks, especially to you Lenny! as I am thinking that sis in law thought of looking on Ebay when bro in law said "i have to go back to Home Depot with those numbers and hope they can find it this time; but I got all I needed last time." (You know how that goes. Thanks for all the stuff I read on here, thanks for the deeper detail when i don't get something. It's been a while since I made an improvement. It's done. It's Done.
