If your drain is the issue, might I offer another suggestion? I have a stairwell here that I lost the cover for the drain and where it went is anyones guess. So, knowing that like you junk gets to covering the drain, I needed a solution. THis isn't pretty and may not work for you, but I found a drain cover at the hardware store that doesn't quite fit. It was intended to fit into a pipe of a much larger size than I have, but yet it does fit into the groove around the pipe, this is the groove between the pipe itself and the concrete. In any event, the result is I now have a cover that sits up about a half inch. I then drilled small holes around the outside of the cover so that if junk covers the top, water can still get through.
