Here here to Dale's coment
I have a 40 year old Hoover Satelite that floats on a stream
of it's own output air. It's all metal, simple, accessible, repairable,
and has no wheels, whirling brushes extra motors or the like.

It sucks better than anything else I've tried, uses easy to find
paper bags and I will never replace it unless
somebody steals it. I got it used for $21.00 in 1969, so who knows
how old it is.

Maybe I should take it to Antiques road show! <GRIN>

Oh yes, I have had to fix the cord and replace the hose once.
