Aloha Tom, Now that we have all established that we hate flies, here's a couple of suggestions. The one that was sent about the bowl of vinegar etc. sounds like a good one to try. Another more smelly one is to get a jar, mayonaise or a mason jar and put about an inch of water in the bottom with a piece of meat. Then cover with plastic wrap with little holes poked in it and the flies will go in and stay there. They actually make hard plastic covers for wide-mouth mason jars with holes in them for this exact purpose. Put the jar outside away from the house and dump the contents every couple of weeks. Kind of disgusting, but works really well.
As for catching the ones that have gotten into the house, some folks use fly-paper. I really dislike that stuff but it does work.
