for the flashlights using C or D batteries you can take the second battery and just insert it the wrong way and it could be fine . I also like the idea of storing the batteries in a bag outside the flashlight. we have had our first snow storm and we do the check list. spare spark plug's' for the generator , oil for the same and of course my favorite instant oatmeal.
