Dale I just went down and took the stock that I want to clean up. To slide the moveable clamp open you must squeeze it at the back. Then when the clamp is placed on the board the movable clamp easily slides close. When against the wood move the locking lever down and it pulls on the rod very securely keeping it in place. I could not move it when it was secured. So running a saw or router should not move the clamp.
