Back in the late 50's my father had a 52 or 53 Chevy step side which would
run on both gas, or butane. You don't hear the tern butane any more, Just
propane or natural gas. If I remember correctly, all it took was a flip of
a switch to flip over from gasoline to the Butane or from Butane to gasoline
while moving down the road. The 20 or 25 gallon Butane tank was mounted
just behind the cab on a rack he built in the bed of the truck. I wish I
could remember the price of Butane back then, but I do remember gasoline was
right around 19 or 20 cents. And diesel ran about 5 cents cheaper than
gasoline.
