Those are actually putter grips in most cases. Some still say Golf Pride on them. They are held in place with double sided tape. The best way to loosen them up is to slide something in under the low end or small end of the grip. What ever you slide under has to be rounded and dull so it doesn't rip the rubber. You can squeeze part of a metal coat hanger together and get that started. Not the hook part though.
Once you get that in place drip a little mineral spirits on the shaft and let it run up under the grip. Obviously this means you have to point the tip upwards. Work the grip back and forth with the "tool" still under the grip. Eventually with enough spirits dropped in under the grip, it will loosen up enough to slip back up the shaft. I build golf clubs as a hobby and once in a while have to take a grip back off. In most cases I use a hook blade knife, but then you can't reuse the grip. hahaha Just take your time and use spirits in moderation. This will make the grip feel terrible for a while but you can ring it out so to speak with paper towels and over night it will be tight again. ----- Original Message ----- From: Dan Rossi To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, December 01, 2008 11:57 AM Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Cane question. Hi, I just recently broke out a new cane. It is a rigid, Aluminum, crook handle cane. The rubber grip is about 2.5 inches down the shaft from the bend. I find it annoying and would like to slide the grip up closer to the bend. The sucker is on there pretty tight though. Any suggestions for how to push the rubber grip up the shaft a bit? Thanks. -- Blue skies. Dan Rossi Carnegie Mellon University. E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tel: (412) 268-9081 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
