Ok, as you and Larry mentioned it is probably a tube that goes to the heater core system. As far as asking for the old parts I often thought about that. Then I have to deal with the disposal. As far as the old pump I was under the impression that they were then sold to the companies that rebuilt them. As I mentioned before the last water pump that I changed was in 1975 on an 1969 olds 98. It was a rebuilt pump and I had to trade in the old one or pay an additional amount. Still wish that I had that car. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob Kennedy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, December 02, 2008 8:52 PM Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] antifreeze leak fixed
I can't say for sure but there are a lot of preformed hoses running around the engine. There is also some tubes or pipes that carry the coolant from the engine block to the heater core and back again. It's possible one of those let go, or got bent, folded or otherwise destroyed while taking a hose off. One habit you may want to start is telling the service writer you would like the parts back after the repair is done. Once you leave the dealership and don't have them, they won't keep them either. when I was building transmissions, I always liked it when someone asked for the parts back. I'd put all the burned clutch plates and torn up parts in a box and they were welcome to them. They didn't have a clue if I pulled them from their car or the trash but they were doing what TV told them to do... It is a good idea to ask for the parts just because it keeps them somewhat honest. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lenny McHugh" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "handyman-blind" <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, December 02, 2008 8:41 PM Subject: [BlindHandyMan] antifreeze leak fixed > Well they replaced the water pump this morning.
