Hi All, I have been pondering on constructing a jewelry making storage case. Both of my daughters make jewelry. I want a removable bottom that has an edge surrounding a felt covered bed. Maybe about 12x8 inches. This will become the work area that if a stone is dropped it will not roll off of the table. I would like to make a box type lid, about 3 inches high. Making the bottom and lid is not a big problem. How to make the lid removable is what I am having a problem figuring out. One idea is to make the lid fit over the bottom and secure cleats along two opposing sides. Then drill four holes through the bottom and into the cleats. Using an anchor screw fastened to the cleats four acorn nuts could be finger tightened. These nuts would then act as feet when it is not in use. There are probably a dozen ways to accomplish this, just looking for other ideas. I want to make it as easy as possible. For the bottom I plan to chamfer the inside of theframe then cut a slot to slide in the 1/4" felt covered bottom. and round over the outside edges..
