A nail gun in most cases has to be connected to a power source. Most use
compressed air, some use CO2 that comes from a little canister. I have a
Dewalt finish nailer that shoots finish nails and is part of the 18 volt
  system Dewalt has.

This nailer that was described is similar to a palm nailer but it uses 12
volts instead of compressed air. The most appealing feature compared to an
air powered nail gun is the fact that you won't over drive a nail. The
sleeve will stop you from continuing to drive far past the surface of the
wood. And for those that have a problem making contact with a nail using a
hammer it will cut down on those nasty marks on the wood.

  Aloha Ray,
  Glad you're back.

I am wondering when a person would use this tool instead of a nail
gun? I've never used a nail gun, so maybe that's why I don't
understand why one would use this instead. Do nail guns have to be
connected to a compresser or some kind of cord?
  Thanks.
