My first choice is the roto ruler although the click is a pretty good device too. It can be a little quicker to set than the roter.
The talking tape was purchased for me recently and it might have been some more value back when I was building the addition onto my house but now I only use it to quickly ascertain things like the width of a door or the size of some piece of furniture. To use it for measuring to set up a cut is way too difficult and too inaccurate and I consider it to be too unreliable, particularly at that price. The archives are full of messages from people sending them back for repairs. I would sooner have a folding yard stick or meter stick. I did most of my house building with a 24 inch embossed wooden folding ruler and a firm locking standard tape measure. Getting one with a really secure lock can be tricky but even the very best are only about 25 bucks at any hardware store and many can be had for half that price. That was how I cut and fitted all of the siding, lock the tape to the desired length then transfer that length to the board on my miter saw.
