Hi Claudia, If the furnace is cycling on and off, this could put quite a drain on your electrical bill, as the biggest energy sucker is the starting of the furnace.
Some people are of the mind that it uses less energy to keep the fan of the furnace on all the time, as it prevents the constant starting and stopping cycle the furnace is used to, thereby helping the furnace to last longer, and use less electrical energy. If the furnace is indeed starting and stopping the way you describe, I can well imagine that you would get an electrical bill for that amount.
