in recent months we have spoke of humidifers and such here and I had noted that in this house I use three what I call number cans to have water right in front of the heat vent. well in a bedroom there was no room for this size tall can so we had put a I think 8 by 8 two inch deep disposable baking tin. it was fresh out of the package. I thought it was odd that that same tin took more water than the others but.. so that cheap way out has come back to haunt me . so a lesson to all of you. do not use these cheaper disposable tins for holding water. yesterday morning while looking for a lost item. my zippo lighter. I discovered a very wet carpet. and low and behold, after removing that tin from the location in front of the vent we refilled the tin in the kitchen sink and it was a slow leak in the corner. not sure if it is our real hard water or the chemicals they put in it like chlorine that ate the hole but now we wait for the carpet to dry and under that carpet is good hardwood floors. . many words not yet published in websters were babbled and I or we wait and wonder what damage will be found in the flooring. which is tongue and grove hard maple . just a fyi for someone thinking of taking the cheap way out.
