Dear Kevin:
Taking off the old knob is the first task, and that will depend on the type
and make you have. Some have two screws on the plate on the inside of the
door, while others have no screws, but a small slot can be felt which can be
used to slide in a small screw driver to press a release lever to allow the
device to separate. Others have covers which pop off with the screws on the
inside. You will need to experiment. Once you have the old one off, take it
to your hardware store or a building supply store and find a replacement which
is of the same size. You will need to take the plunger out and to have it in
the store, as there are more than one size of plunger. Those usually come out
with two screws in the edge of the door.
I have not seen all door knobs, so you may have fun taking the old one
apart. I would recommend that the door be open when you disassemble the knob,
or you may have a problem getting the door open.

                Yours Truly,

                Clifford Wilson
