A few years ago we were staying at a bed & breakfast in Stratford on an acreage. He kept a very large garden which he irrigated with paper like tubing actually made of Tyvek pushed over special nipples and other fittings. I believe he installed it using one of those cutters that cable instalers use which cut a thin trench, works something like a chainsaw vertically into the ground which you push along on wheels. It was down about a foot I believe. He fed it with a toilet tank arrangement from their well, gravity watered the gardens and when the tank partially emptied it would refill.

It is starting to look like getting all new hoses of a significantly larger diameter might turn out to be the answer. I probably aught to give ya'll a better idea of how large the garden is. We have about thirty ninety foot rows, and they cover quite a substantial bit of land. We planted peas, potatos, wax beans, tomatoes, squash, okra, cucumbers and watermelons. Needless to say, this takes a lot of irrigating. I am fervently hoping that larger hoses will do the trick. I can't thank all of you enough for all of the sound and helpful advice I've gotten from my question. You are obviously a great bunch of folk.
