Hello All,
Well, the saga of the grate floods of 2008 and 2009 at this point in time
have been vanquished! Tah dah! After much evaluation and many floods later, My
home now has a French drain! Some dear close friends looked at the latest mess
on Thursday and came back again on Friday, since it was still raining on
Thursday when they looked the first time. Friday a lot of the day was spent in
evaluating the full issue and the possibilities and all the possible expenses.
Well, on Friday the end result was that my fine friends decided that they would
come to my house and fix the flood path completely. Materials were purchased by
friends because they knew what was needed and; how much gravel, what length of
piping, what type of piping, the covering for the piping and most of a plan and
a promise and their word. I, my friends was wowed! I had to work on Saturday so
I was gone and when I got home after 1:00 p.m (the bus was late getting me
home) my friend and his Dad were finished digging and about a third of the way
through pouring the gravel and laying down the pipe. I assessed what these guys
were doing. My friend is 41 and his almost 70 year old father who I'm here to
tell you could out work us all. They both amaze me. Anyway, after the last
flood of 10 inches in less than 24 hours I was definitely having issues with my
bathroom facilities and was extremely worried about the weatherman's prediction
of more rain on Sunday. That's why the guys decided to do it all on Saturday. I
was told not to rome to far into my yard or this woman would fall deep into a
ditch. I didn't like nor want to even contemplate those prospects and they
would be keeping me posted and there would be regular updates. They left for a
short break and then they both surprised me and said we're coming back and
finishing the job. You don't need this mess any more! At that point I decided
that I would at least fix them supper. So the feast was planned the cooking
commenced. Totally easy recipes, which now they want. The job was finally done
by about 6:30 Saturday evening and supper was ravenously eaten. I had told them
I would pay for the supplies and they had agreed to just throw in the labor. I
was totally shocked and immensely grateful and then on Sunday at church my
friend said that he was picking up the entire expense of the job. 40 to 50 feet
of pipe, all the gravel and the time and effort of the job and a whole day of
dedicated time. Amazing people and wonderfully amazing friends. No floods came
on Sunday, go figure! I just knew that would happen. But, guess what it's there
and hurricane season is just around the corner.

Thank you all for all the suggestions that appeared several months ago and I am
so thankful for the counsel and encouragement on this list. Thank you also for
the MP3 help and you know who you are for the hours spent in teaching me some
basics. that MUVO is filling up fast! Well, on to the next project. HMMMMMM!
Trying to master Skipe and maybe getting a magic jack. Oh yeh, I have to get a
new pool pump motor for my 36 by 18 foot in ground pool. It's 10 feet deep and
holds about 30,000 gallons of water. believe me when I say, it received the
rain I had this past week well. I think it actually caught all the rain.
Anyway, the motor in the pump was burned out due to ants, giant ants getting
into the motor and corroding the 1 horse power motor. an estimate of $180.00
was given and total price for repair with new motor was $300.00 and that's a
guestamate. That's probably the next project.

Well, Thanks again, and on to the next adventure in home ownership and repair
from this woman's prospective.,

Warm regards,

Mycell
