Aloha all, We got the shower fixed about a month ago, but I didn't get around to a follow-up message. This is one of those things that people who are blind do best.
The problem was that when we turned the knob to get the water to go up into the showerhead, the pipes made a terrible noise and no water was forthcoming. When my friend came to look at it, it was clear that the choices were to try to drill the hole in the fiberglass enclosure a bit larger, or take down a thirty-year-old piece of cedar panelling in my office that would probably crack and we wouldn't be able to replace it. After we determined that a new tub enclosure would cost about $200 to replace the one we had if it cracked, we went for enlarging the hole in the enclosure. There is a rubber gasket that is supposed to be on the valve that changes the direction of the water from the tub to the shower. It had slipped off. We were able to change it and not crack the enclosure. Good thing that my hands are narrow and I could reach in there because the others wanted to setup an elaborate light so they could see in there, and then of course, they couldn't reach in and still see what they were doing. Take care, Betsy Teamwork: Together we achieve the extraordinary.
