personally, I'd cut them down.  I bought my home about 10 years ago and have 
cut down one tree for each year.  Now all I have are fruit trees, and one 
birch tree in the front yard that my wife won't let me cut down.  So twice a 
year, I have to clean the gutters, all the while I'm cussing that damn tree 
out..
