I mounted one right up to the air vent . I guess you can call it a gable vent. I made a frame between the studs and mount the attic fan to that. My thermostat is set at 110 degrees, it will come on at 110, and turn off once it drops below 110 degrees. Made a big difference up stairs during the summer months when daytime temps average right around 95 degrees. Bought mine at home depot around 10 years ago, and at the time they were right around 70 to 80 dollars.
