Well it was off the top of my head when I described it to him. I can't get any measurements. But I will try and describe it. I first took a piece of 1x6 and cutabout a 12 inch piece. He then cut a point on one end. I then had him draw a line straight back from the point. He then cut out the back 2 inches up and a little over 1/2 inch from each side of the center line. He then cut a notch on each side of the cut out close to the back These notches were 1/2 inch long and about 3/8 inch wide and deep to hold a 3/8 dowel rod. I then took a short piece of 2x4 I guess about 6 or 7 inches long. He cut a slant on one end for the windshield and near the back drilled a 1 inch hole. For the paddle he took a 3/8 dowel rod and with a rasp cut a notch about 1/8 inch deep. I then sliced a 3/4 by 1/8 and 3 inches long. He glued this piece in the notch of the dowel rod. I then cut a strip about 3/8 wide and 12 inches long. I then re cut it to be 1/2 inch high. Using the sander he rounded off all of the corners on the boat and rounded this 1/2x 12 strip to make the keel. Cut it to a good length for the bottom and glued it in place. After painting the bottom and the 2x4 and a prescription bottle he assembled it. first gluing on the top then using two small cup hooks one at each side of the rear cut out. Then setting the paddle in the slots I gave him some romax wire straps to keep it in place. took a rubberband around the hooks and the paddle. Placed a bunch of rubber bands in the prescription bottle and pushed it in the hole. This represents a smoke stack and holds extra rubber bands. ----- Original Message ----- From: "cheetah" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, May 26, 2009 9:25 PM Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] toy boat
