Louise: Couple ideas. There used to be, probably still are, time switches with pins that you move out away from the circle they're in to cause the switch to flip as it passes. I believe the last one of these I bought came from an industrial hardware store which sold a lot of lighting equipment. Alternatively, you can actually use one of those cheap time switches that have the little pins you stick into slots in a dial. The ones I have (I have two, one for lights at Xmas time and one for a dehumidifier), obviously don't care what the actual time set on them is. Mine click 240 times as the dial is turned for each complete 24 hour cycle. You can put one pin in, move thedial until the switch flips, and then count clicks while turning the dial to where you think your next switch trip should be. This is time consuming, and you're not going to get it exactly right the first time you try it, but it can be done.
