800 watts won't boil a kettle or curl the wife's hair. You can run a couple of
lights and the TV. You might run the furnace so long as you don't need the
fridge or the freezer.
Might be nice for camping, it doesn't weigh much.
for something useful in emergencies lasting more than a few hours I don't
suppose one wants anything less than about five kilowatts.
It will be interesting to hear what others think.
