Over on the woodworking for the blind list, one of the list members has been in contact with a guy who has developed a digital angle gauge. he is incorporating this gauge into a number of devices such as a digital miter gauge, digital protractor dot dot dot. He has also developed a speech box and currently, the miter gauge can voice it's measurements. Eventually, as he brings his other devices to market, he will make sure that they all talk.
Future versions of the devices will have the speech chip built into the device and be bluetooth enabled so that you can just use a bluetooth headset, or bluetooth speaker to hear the output. The first thing anyone is going to ask is price. I don't know that you can get his miter gauge anywhere other than his web site, and I'm not even sure if you can order it online or if you have to call him directly, but he is saying the miter gauge is 400 bucks, and the speech box is another 200 bucks. You will be able to use one speech box with all the devices as they are available, but one at a time. For more information you can check out www.salazarsolutions.com If anyone from the conference call last night has more to add, or if I got something wrong, please jump in. Thanks. -- Blue skies.
