Good morning,

I need to replace the door knob set on our door that is between our garage
and family room. However, there is a part on it that is unlike other doors
in my house and I'd like to know if there is a particular name for this
prior to calling around and seeing where I can obtain it. Most door sets in
my house have two screws and a plate on the side of the door where the
actual latch protrudes through the door. However, on this particular door
the latch is contained within a cylinder type housing and this seems to just
be pushed into the door and stays in by pressure. I'm assuming the cylinder
must have a slight taper to it so by the time you push it all the way in and
it connects with the remainder of the door set it creates a snug fit. Is
there a special name for this type door set?

thanks
Al
