Today I was checking just what kind of power my electronics consume. The
items I leave on all the time with one computer online and others including my
wireless is about 300 watts an hour.
What surprised me was my printer. It was drawing about 10 watts waiting
for an order to print so I turned it off. The power being consumed was still
10 watts. Thinking about it a little I realized that this printer can be
turned on by the network when a printing is requested by any computer on the
network.
The cheapest item was my wireless N-extreme link and cable router, which
runs 24 watts non-stop being used or not.
Accordingly, a wireless laptop is the most economical way to go if saving
computing money is a high want factor.
