You may want to point out to your friend that what he is doing is
completely against NLS rules, and violates their copyright agreement with
authors and publishers.

And, if he ripped the NLS book, he probably didn't mark it up at all so
forward and back functions are not going to work very well.

It is probably not a good idea for you to be posting that you are
circumnavigating the NLS encryption, on a public list.
