Tom, >From what I've learned about the unit it would not read barcodes as it does not have an internal database nor does it access one over the internet. The unit simply records data on a it's internal memory related to the particular label you link the unit with .. I am contemplating getting one but I have written RNIB with a couple of technical questions I have not seen addressed in the literature or POD casts.
