I've done some more research into this.  The app is $1.99 yep, two bucks. 
The output is all accessible, but actually getting it to scan a barcode is 
a bitch.  It is mono-directional so you have to scan the barcode in the 
correct orientation, and you kind of have to get the barcode centered in a 
little box, and scan somewhat slowly.  Still no where near as good as an 
omnidirectional scanner or RFID.  I have faith that it will happen though. 
And I am going to contact the company and see if they can build in any 
kind of audio feed back for zoning in on the barcode.  They apparently 
give some visual clues as to move the phone in or out, so audio may be 
possible as well.
