I just spoke to the manufacturer. Since the unit is off warranty they will not replace the canister nor do they want it back for examination. They did document the problem since they never heard of it happening before. Karen had put the canister in the dish washer and she still can see coffee imbedded in the plastic. I am not a coffee drinker but would suspect that it is probably pretty strong. I was going to try and clean the canister with some mild abrasive but will probably just toss it.
