Claudia, Does your basement extend below the bath tub? If so you should be able to inspect under it.
Regrettably, many plumbers are disrespectful of floor joists when installing drain and sewer pipes, I have seen it time and time again when they open stuff up on programmes like This Old House. You might notice other signs like a more shaky floor. If there has been a leak there may be rot but you probably won't see that from above without removing the tub. ----- Original Message ----- From: Claudia To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, December 02, 2009 4:23 AM Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Bathtub Questions? Hi All, Lately, I feel like there is more of a dip in the bathtu, moving towards the front of the tub. Of course, I know it's supposed to slope downward or have a slight decline, in order for the water to drain, but it feels as if that decline is getting steeper. How can we determine if the floor underneath is giving way or needs repair? This is just my observation, but it's starting to worry me. It may be nothing, but I'd like to err on the side of caution!
