Hi Folks We need a new roof. We would like a metal roof. I am trying to learn as much about metal roofs as I can. I will list what I have learned, tru or untrue. 1. The rubber washers used with the screws that hold down the roof can break down in time, causing problems. The solution is to use a seamless roof, which costs more. 2. An old shingle roof left under the metal roof will break down in time and cause the metal roof to become loose. 3. The warranty period is based on how much the paint will fade on the roof.
So far, I have only found roofs with 30 and 40 year warranties. I have been looking for 50 year warranties. A friend of mine got a silver metal roof a few years ago, and the color was all the way thru the metal. This seems to be the best kind of roof to get, but my wife does not want the silver color. I also would like gutter helmets with the roof, and so far I have no luch with this.
