-----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, December 12, 2009 1:44 AM Subject: Turning Symposium Here's a message of general information about a pending symposium on turning devoted entirely to woodworkers with visual or physical disabilities. I'll provide additional information as it becomes available. ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: "Steve Russell" <[email protected]> To: "Larry Martin" <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, December 11, 2009 11:59:26 PM GMT -06:00 US/Canada Central Subject: Re: Congratulations Hello Larry, Thanks for your email and your kind words. Please accept my apologies for the delay in getting back to you. I have been flooded with emails requesting more information about the symposium since I posted a few notices on some of the woodturning discussion boards. I have received numerous emails from members of the blind community who are interested in attending the symposium. Our symposium will be structured as a hands-on symposium with classes designed specifically for individuals with visual and physical disabilities. Attendees who are blind or visually impaired will have audio recordings available of all handouts and other educational materials that will be made available at the symposium. There will also be a special orientation time before the symposium starts for new woodturners who are visually impaired to introduce them to the lathe and the tools and fixings that will be used during the symposium. I think it will be a truly rewarding symposium for everyone who attends. We're working now to finalize many of the details of the event and I will be happy to keep you informed as new information becomes available. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Take care and all the best to you and yours! P.S. If you know of any visually or physically impaired persons who may want to attend our symposium, please let me know. One of the biggest challenges we will face with this symposium is getting the word out to persons who may be interested in attending. I sincerely appreciate everyone who is helping us to spread the word about this event. Steve Russell President Lone Star Woodturners Association, Inc.
