Jennifer,
When we redid our laundry room we bought a can of 
something that is for repairing exactly that kind 
of problem. I will try to find out what it is 
called, but it's a spray can and you can adjust 
the nozzle to produce heavy or lighter texturing. 
I was afraid that the stuff would really spatter 
but it was actually quite easy to control. I 
suppose an expert looking for a flaw could tell, 
but the spot looks quite good now.
