We have what sounds like a similar 2 wheel expandable carrier that is intended for luggage, made before luggage had wheels.
We once brought home a 50 pound sack of "fertelizer" from a store 2 miles away over areas with no sidewalks using this carrier. It was a struggle but easier than carrying it. Look for luggage carriers, will take some care to keep things ballanced but may work Tom Fowle
