the metal loop type are the easiest. However, thin thin fishing line is also very good. Take a 6 inch piece of the thinest fishing line in the sporting shop. tie it in a loop, and then squeeze what would be the point of the loop into a point. You can shove that point through the eye of the needle, put your thread through what goes through the eye and then pull it back out, which carries your thread through the eye. You'll bhave a box of threader for years and or may choose to make up a bunch of them at once. That's what i did.
