Wow! That's a great shame and has effectively killed your product. Wow! I hope you are trying to get Apple to fix this?!
I'm not sure if it is related but Night Shift (introduced in macOS 10.12.4) is locked out on older Apple hardware. But it can be got around by editing a few files that arbitrarily state which hardware it can run on.
