Dear Jeff:

NOT TO MY KNOWLEDGE---but James Shelton's sort of the authority on more recent things Ralph has done.  He's always sang it the same way---the boys with their instruments would just either maybe play VERY softly in the background during his solo on that, I think.  The words to the movie version are a little different than the way he & Daddy recorded it before Daddy died, but it's essentially the same.  Gary Reid's discography might help.

Cordially,

Doris Stanley Bradley.

Subject: BG: A Cappella Version of "Oh Death"

Did Ralph record or perform an a cappella (no instruments, just voice) version of "Oh Death" prior to the "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" soundtrack?  The version on "Clinch Mountain Gospel" has instruments.
