Dear Dr. Stanley,
My name is Amiee and I am very much looking forward to seeing you on Nov. 7th at the Strand Capitol. I have grown up on bluegrass as my father has played in bluegrass bands and my uncle is now currently playing with Iron Ridge based in Hanover Pa.
Growing up I never realized the beauty and grace found within the songs I listened to. But now as an adult I fully recognize all that bluegrass has to offer and listen to it very often. But as much as I listen to various singers, I am always drawn back to you. Your voice hold such beauty and haunts me sometimes. It's simply a voice that can compare to none. And now my children listen and sing along to many of your songs. This makes me very happy. I am proud to carry on the tradition of bluegrass to my children and hopefully to generations to come. So I could not believe it when my dad told me you were coming to York to play. I told my husband that I would give up all my Christmas presents to come see you. He was quite happy to oblige
So I look forward to seeing you in person and hopefully getting an autograph or picture with you if that is possibl!
e. I know
this night is going to be something that I will never forget. You are truly an inspiration to all who listen to you. It was in my opinion you that brought bluegrass back into the mainstream and for this I thank you. Many fond memories have come to me through your music and hopefully when my children hear "Rock of Ages" or Little Maggie" they will smile and remember me singing to them as I do of my father. Again thank you Dr. Stanley for all that you have done and continue to do.
Respectfully Yours,
Amiee
