I feel ya. While attending EMU, My Bill Monroe poster on the wall was the topic of alot of conversation. Mostly alot of teasing and joking about my choice of music, but as soon as all around me seen that it was something I really loved, the teasing stopped. I even turned alot of my college friends into bluegrass fans.

You know, through a big stretch of my teens, festivals really started to diminish, bluegrass popularity seemed to be hitting bottom, but i was a fan through the entire thing. In fact, I remember going to see Dr Stanley at the Warren MI High School, and being one of the 30 people there. Didnt matter to me one bit.

Well Said! Good Show!

I agree with Mr Sullins wholeheartedly. I am a Kentucky resident born and raised, and have traveled all over the world. It has never ceased to please me
just how much more truly dignified, proper, and classy the people of the
Appalachian region are than those peoples around the world who are thought to be
the "cultured ones". My parents and other elders always taught us that
regardless of whether you agree with someone's opinion or not you should relish the fact that we live in a world where every man woman and child is free and expected to have their own ability to develop their own opinions, and thus they should expect and welcome everyone to do so, even if they dont agree, and that that is precisely what makes our society so great. And in fact, give and take like that is likely to open your minds to allow you to develop you own opinion even more, perhaps even enhancing it by this give and take of differing opinions.
I have been a musician all my life. I play lead guitar in a rock and roll
band. But when I listen to music, NOTHING shakes my emotions to my very soul
like the Stanley brand:):):)
I have many many friends who tease me with comments like - "How many
bluegrass players does it take to plug in an electric guitar? ... NONE, What the heck
is electric?" But they respect my music regardless of whether they tease me
about it. They are the first ones to defend my right to appreciate all music all the time - As they do themselves - They may not want to play it, or listen to
it, but they do respect it. And whenever I bring out my guitar to play with
them, they welcome me with open arms and make me feel at home. They just dont
let me plug in to an amplifier:):):):):)
