Hi Chris Thanks for your comments - they're always useful, especially based on your experience.
I agree, a whole server just to do secondary DNS is a bit of an overkill and just installing BIND seems like a good idea. However, having an extra server lurking in the background is great for extra testing - I've already started fiddling with MySQL replication :o) In summary, this little server will end up doing much more than just DNS.
